Easy & Inexpensive DIY Row Covers

Last year I took my first stab at vegetable gardening. I built a 4×8 raised bed on the sunniest side of our prior home and had reasonable success growing peppers, sweet potatoes, and a variety of herbs in a crowded mess. With our new home came more land and space for more gardens. I’d been planning, designing, and re-designing a bigger, better garden since January. I even managed to start a few things from seed. As soon at the weather allowed, I got to work.

Small Entryway Makeover

Our first home came with an abundance of unfinished touches. Among these were rough-cut stair railings, missing or mismatched moulding, dated interior doors, and a total lack of closet doors. All of these came together with mauve tile to create a less-than-inviting entry. Thankfully it was nothing fresh paint and some new finishes couldn’t remedy.

Kitchen Renovation Part 1 – The Ceiling

Well folks, here it is. The first project in our new house. It took less than a month to get started on a major renovation… the kitchen. Before we even moved in, I was brainstorming ways to transform this eighties throwback into our very own Scandinavian farmhouse kitchen… or at least that’s how I’m labeling it today. While I was certainly tempted to start with new appliances, I’ve had enough projects under my belt to know better. So we made our list and started at the at the top—quite literally—with the ceiling.
